Health & Human Services

HHS has become a lot more visible in recent years due to the COVID pandemic and the implementation of Obamacare, but it has always, and still does, other critical work like the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers For Disease Control (CDC).

With our ever increasingly inter-connected globe and the ability of new emerging illnesses to spread around the world in a few hours thanks to air travel, it is vitally important and not a stretch to say a matter of national security that we make sure those doing this work are fully and properly funded.

However, again, when looking at the functions a federal agency is tasked with, we need to continually assess and ask ourselves ‘are any of these tasks things that the individual states can or should do’ and maybe we at the federal level can instead facilitate and coordinate their efforts on?

We need to get back to the federal government only taking on those tasks that the states and private industry either cannot do, or for purposes of improved national performance would be better off done by the federal government.

If you use that mindset and take the time to look at the list of things that HHS does, I think you will agree with me there are some dubious things they are tasked with doing.
